I'd like to visit this factory

I was scanning some old Metropolitan Water, Sewerage & Drainage Board plans for the area near Bourke St in Alexandria and included on the drawings were the local factories that were serviced by the stormwater channel of interest (to me, probably not you). One of them had a name that caught my attention. Would that there were memorabilia to be collected.

[Updated 02-09-2005] Added new picture showing broader area.

Hmmm... To the delorian!

I assume the Alexandria Canal that you mention is the one that runs to the old pumping station?

Name: Pumping Station; 1.6km
Descrip: Long rectangular drain.
Feat: Used to have a big pumping chamber but this was removed in 1999
when the topside building was demolished.
Suburb: Alexandria
Area: Syd-SE
Acc: 167 Wyndham St [Sw:75G13], over metal rail fence into open channel.
Exit: Manhole in small park near cnr Marriott & Boronia Sts Redfern.
Long way up tunnel.
Wet: Ankle.
Cond: Pumping Station as such doesn't exist anymore, all machinery
removed, however, large chamber still exists.
Todo: Need 'DEV' (Drain Exploration Vehicle) to follow all the way.
Int: 3-Average
Found: 1991 Melb Clan.

Certainly not to be confused with The Alexandria Canal, but this is certainly connected to the pumping station you mention (most probably, this is right near Green Square Station and I'm too lazy to check right now).

Well, some of it is. The pumping station is for the sewer most likely, and running directly beneath the sewer was a storm water culvert between Bourke & another street of name forgotten. The two enclosed streams would not have intersected unless by misadventure.

And the sewer was quite spacious where the storm water channel was flat and wide.

Let me see the plans again (convenient pdf format after the scan dont you know) and the details checked.

After consulting the plans, the locale you mention is quite a bit to the north of where I was meaning. I see this now, although where you start is not too far away, in fact you can see the open channel right nearby (ill attach a pic). There is the North-South vs East-West direction thing that is the clincher.

You can see other sewer lines indicated by a single line, and I dont think we have those drawings.
