Hunter S. Thompson Goes 'Bang'

Taken from SMH website: With a deafening boom, the ashes of Hunter S. Thompson were blown into the sky from a 47-metre tower as relatives and a star-studded crowd bid an irreverent farewell to the founder of "gonzo journalism". ... "He loved explosions," explained his wife, Anita Thompson. ... The scene at the Owl Farm compound outside Aspen also included blow-up dolls, bands and plenty of liquor to honour Thompson..."We just threw a gallon of Wild Turkey in the back and headed west," said Kevin Coy of Chester, West Virginia, who drove more than 2,414 kilometres with a friend in the hope of seeing the celebration.

The man died like he lived.

If I may be so bold as to quote the prophet,

"A meteor that falls from the skies not only is dead when it hits, but digs its own grave with the force of its fall."

Hunter, you will be missed. However your example is a shining star amongst a multitude of pinpricks. You did it YOUR way.

We all should be so lucky.

Selah.

Well said.
Thats a positively chewable statement of his.

By no means a profound statement, but certainly a very characteristic one:

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
